Old Fire station - Storytelling mural 2026
I was commissioned by the Old Fire Station to produce a mural inspired by a collection of stories from people who have engaged with the building in the past two years.
The Old Fire Station is a centre for creativity in Oxford housing the homelessness charity Crisis and Arts at the Old Fire Station, encouraging people from all backgrounds to connect through the arts.
This piece showcased the amazing creative community that's been built within these walls. The sense of warmth, positivity and joy that goes beyond the countless workshops, performances and shows taking place here.
The tapestry-like mural combines figurative forms weaving into one another embellishing each other's life to show the true sense of belonging and connection.
Created using hand cut paper collage. It was important the medium reflected the raw and personal stories shared.
Collage has a tactile feeling, each piece adding a new layer to the story. Whilst the use of playful dynamic shapes highlights the energy created within this space.
Warm colours invite the viewer in creating an all encompassing sense of joy as soon as you walk through the door.
On Display : 14th April - 10th Oct, Upper Gallery Oxford
